Nancy Genatt came to her first yoga class here at Soma Center seeking a stress management tool and discovered that it offered so much more. The desire to understand more about the depth of yoga’s potential as a healing art prompted her to enter a formal yoga teacher training program here at Soma Center in 2001.

In addition to yoga, Nancy has studied movement and dance with teachers Daniel Leven and Gabrielle Roth and enjoys both participating in and facilitating these rejuvenating, sweaty, and uninhibited dances. Because of the growth and maturation Nancy has seen in herself, she is enthusiastic about sharing these transformative practices. She feels that people of all experience and fitness levels can benefit from the combination of physical challenge, emotional clarity and spiritual grounding that these practices provide.

Nancy brings creativity and humor into her teaching, and loves to incorporate fluid movement, breath awareness and focused alignment into her yoga practice.

Darlene Rich began studying yoga as a part of her training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC in 1975. She continued her studies through both of her pregnancies, giving natural home births to two beautifully healthy children, 1982 and 1986.

In the late 1980's into the 90's she studied with Alan Cohen, both Hatha Yoga and Meditation for Higher Consciousness. In 2003 Darlene discovered the Soma Center and began training with Bobbie.

Yoga offers a new way of life through personal and class practice of asana, pranayama and meditation. Teaching is a way of life for Darlene-a calling she is grateful to have discovered. She teaches High School Theatre and English in Edison. Yoga is taught in all levels of theatre classes and Darlene also teaches in Princeton as well as Edison, NJ.

She is honored to be a new teacher at the Soma Center this Fall.

Sharon Avitzur is a certified Soma Yoga teacher who believes in the profound healing ability we posses as somatic beings. Sharon brings to her classes a gentle yet engaging approach that honors and allows the unfolding of each individual according to their ability. Her classes are an expression of creativity and depth inviting practitioners to explore their embodied experience in a safe and nourishing environment. Sharon advocates breath work as a key component to any meaningful practice. It all begins with one breath that ripples throughout each and every cell of our human experience.

Sharon incorporates into her classes restorative techniques allowing practitioners to go deeper into the experience of letting go of deep held stress. For the past few years in addition to her yoga and meditation practices, Sharon embarked upon the cosmic journey of Continuum Movement, a meditative practice that incorporates breath sound and movement creating a profound climate for health. Practitioners in Sharon's class find sound to be a gentle technique toward quieting the noise in their system.

Sharon is a writer and the mother of 10 years old twins that remind her every day that the only constant is change…

Michelle Kencitzski is a Registered Yoga Teacher who received her 200 hour Certification from Bright Spirit Teacher Training. Finding inspiration in the soulful direction of Jillian Pransky, Michelle’s teaching style is both free-spirited and compassionate. She believes the practice is less about achieving the perfect pose and more about each person safely finding what makes sense for his/her body while befriending it. In doing so, she hopes to guide her students to connect and align with their heart and soul to find a sense of strength, peace and grounding on and off the mat in daily life.

Michelle is also a Trauma-Sensitive Certified Yoga Teacher through the Trauma Center in Boston, teaching students how to gently and lovingly re-inhabit their bodies after experiencing Trauma so that they may heal.

In addition to her Yoga work, Michelle is a Certified Self-Defense Instructor, working with women and children of all ages. Michelle has taught Yoga and Self-Defense in schools to children ages 8-18.  She has additional training in Neuroscience and Attachment, Reiki and Somatic Movement. Michelle has also worked closely with a handful of Psychologists to create a holistic healing model combining Traditional Psychology with Self-defense and Yoga for Trauma Survivors.

Michelle discovered Soma Center shortly after completing her Yoga Teacher Training and has found comfort and inspiration with their gentle approach and desire to preserve and celebrate the heart of Yoga.  Grateful for all of her generous teachers, she finds wonder and joy in practicing and teaching; both a passion and blessing in her life.

r
Loring has been celebrating the practice of yoga in her life for nearly 10 years.  She has found the benefits of an ongoing yoga practice to be of great dimension in her life.  It is her hope that by encouraging involvement of yoga in life at a young age, children will be better equipped and prepared to evolve into peaceful, content, and empowered human beings.  She truly believes inviting yoga into a child's life inspires growing up with happiness and good health. A path of strong mental and physical capabilities is Loring's wish for children of all ages to experience as they learn to adapt and take care of themselves in a very busy world.
Loring's journey includes participating in A Taste of YogaKids, completing the YogaKids Foundations Training with Marsha Wenig, and currently continuing her studies with the YogaKids program to complete the Advanced Training Practicum.
